Natural Remedies for Cold and Flu
Posted by: Heidi - January 7, 2013. DIY
Well, it’s that time of year again… cold and flu season. In the last two weeks, each member of my family has come down with a cold, ending with me. When canceling playdates I would tell my friends, “Yes, we’ve all had it… except me, thank goodness!” Wouldn’t you know, bragging about it has come back to bite me.
We don’t usually go to the doctor for head colds or minor cases of the flu, because your doctor is probably going to say, “Get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.” Thanks, doc, but I could have done that on my…
Beginning a Yoga Practice? Here’s What You Need to Know!

I started doing yoga while I was pregnant with my first child. I had been running, swimming, and doing pilates, but as I got into my 5th and 6th month of pregnancy, these forms of exercise became uncomfortable or unsafe. In the past, I had found yoga to be boring, but since I had fewer exercise options, I purchased a prenatal yoga DVD (by Shiva Rea) on Amazon and started practicing.

It’s important to accessorize for your face shape. I took this quiz to find out that I have a round face shape, so I style my hair and accessorize to flatter my face.…

True introverts gain energy from being alone; true extroverts gain energy from being with people. So while I’m outgoing and love spending time with friends and family, it tends to be an energy suck for me and every so often I have to recharge.
Being a parent has made the regular practice of alone-time that much more vital for me. I’ve found that spending some time for myself – whether it’s going for a hike, giving myself a pedicure, or reading a…

Posted by: Heidi - June 22, 2012. DIYThis post is part of our ongoing “Do-It-Yourself” series. Got an idea for a great DIY, or have one that you’d like us to feature? We’d love to hear about it!
Every other week my husband has what we’ve come to refer to as “dude night,” (they made up a theme song… no joke) which means I get a ME night. I’m not very girly but I love pampering myself every once in a while, so on my nights in I usually take a bath or do my nails.
I used to love buying smelly stuff from Bed, Bath, &…
